Utopia

I need a McGuffin world to help me make the tough decisions in life.

I want to sail towards a glorious future,

but the order is: glorious future first,

then sailing.

This is a problem.

So I imagine a place:

with greening sun and leaf and water

welcome shadow and porch breeze

food from the soil

voices and song

clear sky night

accidental touches

brushes and nudges

holding and being held.

On a slow river drift

lazy creaking oars

broker the passage

turning and returning

in whorls and vortices,

to the city by the ocean.

Where the question is not if you play

it’s what you play.

There is no rule.

But who will regulate this?

This is a problem.

There are problems to solve.

There will be fear.

This is not a rule.

But there will be fear.

It will be as precious as hunger.
